Welcome to Kindergarten!
Welcome to Kindergarten at Frankstown Elementary! We are excited to meet the new additions to our Frankstown family!
Kindergarten is a very, very important step; not only for the child, but for the parents as well. We are looking forward to sharing this landmark year with you and your child! In Kindergarten, the children are given opportunities to explore and grow physically, socially, emotionally, and mentally. We will be laying a solid foundation for your child's future success. We will guide and celebrate each students' success every step of the way as he/she develops a love for learning, self-confidence, and the academic skills to be a thriving learner. We are honored to be your child's first teacher and hope that your child will have an experience that he/she will carry with them throughout their lives.
Our Kindergarten curriculum includes Houghton Mifflin Reading, Scott Foresman Math, McGraw Hill Science, Houghton Mifflin Social Studies, Harcourt Health, and Kid Writing. We also have teacher developed thematic units that we use during Theme Time. The Theme topics relate to the current month's events/holidays as well as what we are studying in Social Studies, Science, and Reading. The students will have music, art, and physical education classes once a week and library class every other week. Guided Reading becomes part of the curriculum in February.
