Welcome to Sixth Grade
Welcome to sixth grade at Frankstown Elementary!
The sixth grade faculty is dedicated to preparing each student for a successful future. Our goal is to provide every opportunity available to help sixth graders reach their highest potential.
Sixth grade is an integral part in helping students prepare for the transition to seventh grade. The sixth grade teachers emphasize responsibility, respect and try to instill the importance of hard work and dedication into each and every student.
Our sixth grade curriculum is designed to include many interesting concepts. In the Houghton Mifflin Reading series, sixth grade students will meet a variety of talented authors including Gary Paulsen, Wilson Rawls and E.L. Konigsburg. We utilize the Scott Foresman Math series which prepares students for seventh grade. McGraw Hill Science is used to instruct the students in the basic building blocks of life and earth science, as well as chemistry and physics. Students in the sixth grade will receive science instruction throughout the entire year from two different teachers. Sixth grade uses the Houghton Mifflin Social Studies series to teach geography, while using the Harcourt Health series for health. Students will receive geography instruction during the course of one semester and health during the other. Technology is integrated into every subject area.
