Our goal is to provide a comprehensive, challenging, educational program, which helps students reach their fullest potential. We believe children should have the opportunity to learn and grow as they prepare to become responsible members of society.
Fourth grade is a year of transition. It is the first year that students change classes for Language Arts and Math. Students must learn more responsibility and organization. The homeroom teacher may not be the student’s Math or Language Arts teacher. As members of the fourth grade community, it is important to follow the rules and be a model student to make the transition between classes a smooth one. These and many other positive behaviors will ensure a successful transition in the fourth grade.
Our fourth grade curriculum is designed to include many interesting concepts. In the Houghton Mifflin Reading series, fourth grade students will explore a variety of themes including Journeys, American Stories and That’s Amazing. We utilize the Scott Foresman Math series, which is aligned with PA Standards and prepares students for fifth grade. McGraw Hill Science is used to instruct the students in Earth Science that includes weather climate, rocks and soil, and wetlands as well as Physics that includes light, heat and sound. Fourth grade uses the Houghton Mifflin Social Studies series to teach Pennsylvania History, while using the Harcourt Health series for health. Technology is integrated into every subject area.
