How often does my child visit the library?
 
Students come to the library once every two weeks for a thirty minute library lesson and book exchange.  Also, the library is open to students and teachers throughout the day for research and to use the computers.
 
 
How many books can my child check out of the library?

What happens if my child loses his/her book?
 
If a book is lost, it must be paid for so that it can be replaced.  Your child will receive an overdue notice from the librarian stating the cost of the book.  Please make checks payable to HASD. 
 
 
What will my child be learning in library class?
 
                                 
Primary Students - Book Care, Parts of a Book, Library Citizenship, Identify Call Labels, Locate a book on the shelf, Author and Illustrator Studies, Alphabetical Order, Introduction to the Dictionary and Encyclopedia, Introduction to the OPAC (online public access catalog (the card catalog on the computers)) .
 
Intermediate Students - Using Reference Books, Research Process, Locating information in the Library using the OPAC and Online Sources, Author and Illustrator Studies.
 
 
How can I become a library volunteer?
 
                                
 
Library volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated! The main role of a library volunteer is to shelve books and to check books in and out to students.
