There is much excitement and great expectations for the upcoming 2010-2011 elementary wrestling season. Our goal is to offer a program that meets the needs of both the novice and advanced athlete. The program will consist of two levels of instruction and competition. Key to the success and enjoyment of the sport will be matching the intensity of the instruction and competition to the individual wrestler's ability and desire.
Mondays and Wednesdays will be dedicated to teaching the basics to those who have little experience or are in need of more development. Tuesdays and Thursdays will offer a more intense program for those ready for a higher level of training and competition. The aim is for all wrestlers to eventually move on to the more demanding levels of instruction.
There will be live wrestling in match situations on as many Friday's as we can schedule opponents. Friday competition will consist of a dual meet format with 21 weight classes as well as (3)one-minute running clock scrimmages.
On various Saturdays, the wrestlers will participate in tournaments throughout the area. The coaching staff is committed to attending and supporting your children at these events. While there are many tournament opportunities throughout the season, not all events will be promoted by the coaches. Parents will be made aware of which tournaments the coaches will be attending.
The Little Tigers will participate in an incentive program with rewards for attendance, work ethic, sportsmanship, and maintaining good grades.
Both the athletes and parents are encouraged to become fans and students of the sport. Hollidaysburg wrestling has a rich history. Along with Coach Moore, we are writing the next chapter now!
